IAOM Previews Conference Presenters: Employee and Facility Management

The 117th IAOM Conference and Expo is just three weeks away.
Here is a preview of the presentations scheduled for the Employee and Facility Management tracks, which complements this Weekly Bulletin's theme of management, leadership, and human resources.
The Wednesday lineup begins with the Employee Management track.
The first speaker is Howard Holmes of Jiffy Mixes.
His topic is titled Behavior Determines Your Workplace: A Case Study.
Holmes will discuss how hiring decisions should be based on a persons’ individual behavior.
He will show how his organization uses understanding and evaluating behavior to make a difference in their company culture.
Valerie Blanchett of Cargill will speak on Attracting, Hiring and Retaining Employees.
Blanchett will speak to the importance of linking individualized employee development with a robust talent management process.
The speaker will discuss her company's internal methods and systems for understanding their talent pipeline and developing their employees.
Following her paper, a panel of HR professionals will answer questions from the audience.
Thursday’s program brings the Facility Management track.
The first of three presenters is Craig Froehling of Cargill whose presentation is titled NFPA 652 and You: Standard of Fundamentals of Combustible Dusts.
This presentation is expected to raise awareness of a new combustible dust standard that is being drafted by NFPA.
Froehling will share key details of the draft and also explain how to give public input on the draft before it is finalized.
Next, Anthony Yount of ConAgra Foods will present a Safety Scorecard.
His presentation will focus on measuring success by leading indicators as opposed to focusing on the trailing indicators.
Rounding out the track will be Adam Britton of Horizon Milling, who will present on Serious Injury and Fatality Prevention Program.
Britton will discuss how fatality prevention principles are shaping the environmental, health and safety focus at Cargill.
He will discuss several key steps that companies of any size can take to understand their specific risks for a fatality and implement control strategies to prevent the tragic outcomes.
