The Boone Group Acquires The Rolfes Company...Now Called Rolfes@Boone
Date Posted: January 24, 2005
Boone, IA--On January 10, The Boone Group announced that it had completed an asset purchase of Danville, IA-based The Rolfes Company.
Kevin Miles, president of The Boone Group, a 10-year-old company that specializes in the design, manufacturing, and installation of grain temperature equipment, dust systems, monitoring equipment, and aeration systems for the grain industry, said the company has changed its moniker to Rolfes@Boone.
However, the corporation will retain the legal names of its two separate business units: Boone Aeration and Environmental Corporation and Boone Cable Works and Electronics, Inc.
For more than 50 years, Rolfes manufactured grain temperature monitoring systems for the grain industry.
“The grain temperture business doesn’t have the sales volume for two companies the size of Rolfes and Boone, and both companies were required to staff high quality technical personnel,” Miles said.
“Rolfes CEO Lance Beck was lucky enough to have other business interests, so it really made sense to do this. However, Lance will stay on in 2005 as a consultant to help with the consolidation.”
Miles said former Rolfes employees Kevin Reathaford, wire and cable production manager; Brenda Reathaford, sales assistant; and John Burke, technical support, will be transferring to Boone.
Greg Abbott, regional and international sales, will remain in Josephine, TX.
“We have hired Rolfes’ field installation crews and they will join Boone’s crews to provide quality customer service,” says Miles.
Miles said Rolfes@Boone plans to expand its facility this year.
