AccuWeather.com: No Sign of Freeze in Corn Belt for Weeks; Gustav to Bring Much-Needed Rain

State College, PA—The AccuWeather.com Agricultural Forecast Center reports no sign of a freeze in the Corn Belt for at least the next two weeks, as remnants of Gustav are expected to bring a couple of inches of rain to central areas of the Belt this week.
"August was very dry, so the area could use some rain," explains AccuWeather.com agriculture Expert Senior Meteorologist Dale Mohler.
"A couple of inches from Gustav will help to round out the crops before harvest."
Temperatures near- to above-normal will add to the overall favorable conditions in the Corn Belt leading up to harvest in October.
Gustav will move north through Missouri and Illinois today into Thursday.
Rainfall could be as much as 3 to 6 inches through central Missouri and 2 to 3 inches through central and northern Illinois.
This rain will miss the eastern region of the Corn Belt in Ohio, Indiana and eastern Michigan.
