Biodiesel Industry Gathers in Florida for Fifth Annual Conference and Expo

Date Posted: February 6, 2008

Orlando, FL—The fifth annual National Biodiesel Board (NBB) Conference and Exposition, held Feb. 3-6 in Orlando, FL at the Gaylord Palms resort hotel, attracted an attendance of approximately 3,500 biodiesel industry professionals.

Attendance was down slightly from the 3,800 who attended the event last year in San Antonio, TX.

Tom Verry (Left), the National Biodiesl Board (NBB) director of outreach and development, recognizes central Florida fleets for reducing emissions with biodiesel. Honored are (seated from left) Bruce Chesson with the John F. Kennedy Space Center; George Survant with the Florida Power and Light Company and David Winslow with Universal Orlando Resort. The Fifth Annual NBB national conference was held Feb. 3-6 at Orlando.
While attendance was down, the event’s trade show was full with 340 vendors of equipment and services filling 390 booth spaces.

“Attendance this year is lower due to some changing marketing dynamics,” said Amber Pearson, communications specialist, NBB.

“Those who are very interested in biodiesel and those who are vested in the industry are well represented,” Pearson said.

“We could have had more exhibitors but we had to cut off participation due to space limitations,” she added.

The NBB had a waiting list of 30 exhibitors.

“The reason for the large amount of exhibitors,” Pearson said, “is that interest in biodiesel has risen significantly. Companies are realizing the potential for growth within the industry.”

The 2009 NBB Conference and Expostion will be held Feb. 1-4 in San Francisco, CA.
