CHS Hedging Offers Hedging Class For Producers ... Sept. 2 ... Inver Grove Heights, MN
Date Posted: August 22, 2014
Inver Grove Heights, MN—CHS Hedging, the commodity brokerage subsidiary of CHS, is offering its inaugural hedging class specifically for producers on Sept. 2, 2014, and the timing couldn’t be better.
Previously, CHS Hedging classes were only open to commercial ag business employees, with content designed around commercial operations.
“There’s starting to be a pain point out there right now,” said Joe Hofmeyer, CHS market analyst and one of the course instructors.
“Commodity prices have turned and farmers are looking at numbers coming in below their cost of production. Even if some of the concepts are a refresher, the course material covers a good mix of marketing tools and scenarios.”
Held at the CHS headquarters in Inver Grove Heights, Minn., the full-day class is designed for any grain or livestock producer looking to sharpen their merchandising skills and effectively manage the commodity price risk for their operation.
Topics covered include futures trading, options trading, fundamental analysis and over-the-counter contracts.
Hands-on, mock marketing exercises are also part of the day’s activities.
“This is a great training opportunity, too, for that multi-generation operation,” added Hofmeyer.
“Where younger producers have a chance to get away and learn about commodity marketing in a neutral setting.”
Space is limited but spots remain open.
