Charm Sciences Introduces ROSA Zearalenone Test

Date Posted: November 8, 2006

Charm's ROSA® Zearalenone test is the fastest and simplest test to screen for Zearalenone.

It is the latest in a series of ROSA mycotoxin tests (Rapid One Step Assay). Following a methanol extraction, the diluted sample is added to the ROSA strip and read after 10 minutes.

The test gives an accurate result detecting Zearalenone contamination in corn samples at 0 - 1.4 ppm.

The ROSA-M reader stores results electronically for record keeping and reporting. A dedicated software, mycoSOFT™ provides customized analysis by sample type, sample source, thresholds, and pass/ fail statistics.

The ROSA method is time/cost efficient and requires minimal equipment and user involvement.

ROSA Zearalenone strips are uniquely packaged so that the lateral flow strip only comes in contact with the sample.

Multiple test strips may be run simultaneously.

Other ROSA tests include the 3 minute Aflatoxin P/N, the 3 minute DON P/N, and 10 minute ROSA Aflatoxin Quantitative, which have already received approval from USDA GIPSA ( Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration).

All ROSA mycotoxin tests can be run on the same equipment.

Zearalenone can appear in pre-harvest corn, wheat, rice or maize by several species of Fusarium, e.g., F. graminearum.

Swine are particularly susceptible to the presence of Zearalenone in feedstuffs as it is an estrogenic mycotoxin, which can cause infertility, or other breeding problems.
