JOB DESCRIPTION: CAD TECH
Function To provide professional drafting functions (structural & illustrative) for a wide variety of projects such as concrete foundations, structural steel & facility layouts
Scope Work with an engineer to design and layout a new facility, or modify an existing facility. The project starts at concept and ends at construction.
DUTIES Typical functions of the job include, but are not limited to: • Responsibility for the preparation of projects Revit drawings & specifications. • Prepares various types of drawings using CADD equipment. • Coordinate drafting work/ work with others on same or multiple projects • Checks finished work for quality, consistency and accuracy. • Prepares computation, notes, preliminary, final plans (from field notes), design data and instructions. • Maintains the quality, accuracy and security of the computer based graphical data. • Performs other duties as required.
SUPERVISION Received Sr. 3D CAD Tech. Determines own work sequence within limits of established policy practices and procedures.
Given General or close input to other technicians, support staff when assigned.
EDUCATION Associates degree in industrial design, engineering, interior design, construction management or a related field. Continuing education courses
EXPERIENCE Experience in using Autodesk Revit, Microsoft office products and taking field measurements. Background in construction or similar field. Experience in 3D CAD. Ability to read Structural construction drawings. Professional affiliations preferred not required
EQUIPMENT Ability to use the CADD work station, copy/fax machines, related office equipment, Computers and measuring equipment (tap measure, level, angles)
WORKING CONDITIONS Work as a group in an open office setting, very fast paced and must be able to work between multiple projects
TRAVEL Limited but some required for continuing education, field inspections.
PERSONALITY Must be self-motivating; have ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be a positive influence and keep a positive attitude toward projects. The following characteristics are required for this position: organized, punctual, reliable, and trustworthy. The willingness and the ability to meet deadlines is a must.
