Poudre Valley Coop Opens One of Colorado's Largest Biofuels Stations

Date Posted: April 25, 2007

Poudre Valley Coop, located at 225 NW Frontage Road in Fort Collins, Co., has become one of the largest biofuels stations in the state.

The facility celebrated their grand opening on April 18.

“As an agriculture input supplier, we feel we need to support the American farmer in any way we can,” said Ed Race, operations manager of Poudre Valley Coop.

“We made a major commitment to become a major supplier of alternative fuels to our customers.

"We are now offering E85 at four pumps and biodiesel at six pumps. This will make us the largest biofuels service station in northern Colorado and probably the entire state.”

The price of E85 at Poudre Valley Coop is currently listed at $2.40 per gallon versus regular unleaded, which is listed at $2.75 per gallon.

“There are many positives in using biofuels,” said Race.

“It burns cleaner, can increase our air quality, maintenance costs are decreased due to less frequent oil changes and many see an increase in engine performance.” Race adds,

“I am sure there are many people out there who feel as I do and are tired of seeing us import so much of our fuel needs from the Middle East.

"We can become more energy independent by producing some of our energy needs here which will keep more dollars in the United States.”

The grand opening at Poudre Valley Coop brings the total number of E85 fueling locations in Colorado to 16.

“We want to thank the Governor’s E85 Coalition and the Colorado Corn Growers for helping us make this event possible,” said Race.
