There was a tragic accident in Mt. Carroll, IL Wednesday, July 28 where 3 young men who work for Haasbach, LLC, the owner/operators of the Mt Carroll, IL grain facility, were involved in an accident.

This is a tragic accident.

CGB Enterprises has been a part of the Northern IL agricultural community for many years and we join the rest of the community in concern and deep sadness over this incident.

Unfortunately, initial reports of the incident have identified CGB Enterprises and/or Consolidated Grain and Barge Co. as owners/operators of the facility.

The following information is important in reporting this incident:

1. The facility is owned by Haasbach, LLC, not by CGB.

2. The facility is operated by Haasbach, LLC, not by CGB nor does CGB have control of operations, its assets, or employees.

3. The affected employees were not CGB employees.

4. CGB does have an agreement with Haasbach, LLC to accept and store grain for CGB at the Mt Carroll location, but CGB has no further involvement in the physical operation.
