Ethanol and the Impact on Grain Elevators Seminar Slated For Aug. 13/14 in Effingham and Mendota, IL

The Grain and Feed Association of Illinois (GFAI) will host an afternoon seminar at two locations in August to explore the impact of ethanol on grain elevators.

The seminar will be held:

> August 13, Thelma Keller Convention Center, Effingham.

> August 14, Mendota Civic Center, Mendota.

Registration starts at 1 p.m. at both locations.

The seminar runs from 1:30 to 4 p.m. with networking and social time from 4-5 p.m.

The seminar will focus on the big picture trends and implications as well as the local impact of expanded corn production.

University of Illinois Professors Darrel Good and Bob Hauser will team up to provide the background information, analysis and possible implications of various corn production trends.

Topics to be covered include:

 Examination of corn prices and food prices.

 Impact on transportation and storage.

 Long-run price projections and new price equilibrium.

 Implications of disruption in production.

 Analysis of international trade.

Registration is $50 for GFAI members and $95 for non-members.

The cost includes hors d’oeuvres and drinks.
