Ames, IA—On April 1, 2009, Farmers Cooperative Co. (FC) acquired an ownership position in Feed Partners LLC and its feed mill at Larrabee, IA.

Effective immediately, FC will be able to supply customers with quality feed from the Larrabee mill.

This concrete feed mill, which was constructed in 1999 and is fully automated, will allow FC to further serve its feed customers in the region.

FC is committed to serving its feed customers as effectively and efficiently as possible.

Adding the Larrabee feed mill to our feed system enhances the service to FC customers in northwest Iowa.

As the map with FC’s system of feed mills shows, some of our customers will be able to save on transportation costs while others can now be served by FC in a new market as we grow further west.

In March, FC announced plans to build a state-of-the-art feed mill in Coon Rapids, IA.

The addition of the Larrabee mill to our system in conjunction with FC’s recently announced new feed mill planned for Coon Rapids are both part of our strategic effort to remain a long-term player in the feed industry and bring added value to our customers.

According to FC’s CEO Roger Koppen, “One of the values of doing business with FC is our system of feed mills throughout much of the state.

"We are able to save our customers freight cost by manufacturing and delivering quality feed from the mill located closest to their livestock sites.
