Funeral Home Releases More Information on JaHam Sales & Service Founder Thom Hamilton, Who Died Oct. 13

Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home in Decatur, IL on Oct. 16 released more information on James Thomas "Thom" Hamilton, founder and former owner of JaHam Sales & Service in Heman, IL.

Hamilton died at the age of 69 at 8:49 p.m. Oct. 13 at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 17, at Brintlinger and Earl Funeral Home, with visition two ours prior to service time at the funeral home.

Hamilton founded JaHam in 1969 as a manufacturer of truck probe systems.

Over the years, he installed his probes at thousands of facilities across the United States, including a variety of grain-handling locations.

He sold the JaHam truck probe line in 2005 to Gamet Mfg., Inc., St. Paul, MN.

Hamilton was b orn April 16, 1940 in Mammoth Spring, AR, the son of James Earl and Virgie L. (Jenkins) Hamilton.

He married Nancy Rebecca Smiley on Feb. 15, 1985, in Tuscola, IL.

He enjoyed trap shooting, hunting, woodworking, and being with his family. Hamilton was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, of Latham, IL; children Cheri Reed of Argenta, IL; Darrell Hamilton of Decatur, IL, Penny Fitch of Decatur, IL, Lori Logan of Decatur, IL, Cindy (Eric) Trentz of Warrensburg, IL, Shelley Hackney of Latham, IL; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Louis Cooper of McAlester, OK, and Earline (Howard) Bourne of Warrensburg, IL.

He ws preceded in death by his parents; brothers Ruben, Forrest, Bill, Charlie, and Merle; and sisters Virginia Scott and Bernice Trump.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Childrens' Hospital.
