GEAPS Exchange 2014 Smashes Attendance and Exhibitor Records
Date Posted: February 26, 2014
The 85th annual GEAPS Exchange, held Feb 22-25 in Omaha, NE, smashed records for attendance and exhibitors at the trade show.
A total of 3,379 attended the event, sponsored by the Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS).
The previous record was set in 2012 in Minneapolis, MN, which saw 2,727 attendees.
Attendance was helped by the central location and came in spite of a major winter storm in the upper Midwest.
The Exchange's annual Expo also set a record with 400 exhibitors occupying over 680 booths, smashing the old record of 307 exhibitors at 516 booths at the 2013 Exchange in Louisville, KY.
The show filled a 200,000 square-foot space at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha.
The last time GEAPS held the Exchange in Omaha in 2008, it set an attendance record of 2,380, breaking the 1997 Exchange record of 2,262 in Minneapolis, MN.
During the annual meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 25, Marcus Neal, with Lansing Trade Group, Kansas City, MO, was elected second vice president of the society.
That puts him on a succession track to become international president in 2016-2017.
On Monday, Feb. 24, the Associates Board elected Colin McClure, with PMI-Nebraska, Grand Island, NE, board secretary.
That puts him on the succession track to become associate vice president in 2016-17.
The Associates Board represents equipment/service suppliers to the grain industry.
Next year's GEAPS Exchange 2015 will be held Feb. 21-24 at America's Center Convention Complex in St. Louis, MO.
