GEAPS/IAOM Great Lakes Regional Conference ... April 10-12 ... Angola, IN

The 12th annual Grain Elevator and Processing Society’s (GEAPS) and International Association of Operative Millers’ (IAOM) Great Lakes Regional Conference will be held April 10-12 at the Potawatomi Inn at Pokagon State Park near Angola, IN.

The regional conference and trade show typically draws close to 200 attendees and over 37 exhibitors and is organized by the Michigan-Southern Ontario, Hoosier, and Seaway GEAPS chapters and the Wolverine and Ohio Valley IAOM districts.

The evening program includes a coctail hour from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and dinner from 6:30 to 8:45 p.m. GEAPS President Mark Daniels and IOAM President Royal Denning will speak after the dinner.

Thursday, April 10

The program begins with three pre-conference workshops—Bearings, Components & Gears; Grain Quality; and Bin Entry and Rescue—running concurrently from 8:45 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.

From 5:15 to 6:30 p.m., a GEAPS Tri-Chapter Leader Idea Sharing meeting will be held for all current and future board members, with the goal of generating thoughts and ideas on various topics including responsibilities as a chapter board member, evaluating chapter performance, and reviewing what other GEAPS chapters are doing.

A social gathering will be held from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Friday, April 11

Educational sessions will include:

• Railroad Track Maintenance.

• Ag Employment.

• Arc Flash.

• Fumigation.

• Ethanol Update.

• DDG Information.

• NFPA 68 Dust Collection.

• Steel Tank Design.

Saturday, April 12

From 8:00 to 10 a.m., a panel discussion featuring Iowa State University Professor Charlie Hurburgh will focus on Grain Traceability, Food Defense and Facility Security.
