GEAPS/K-State Distance Ed Program Offers Grain Drying and Materials Handling Short Courses in September

Whether you are looking to refresh your knowledge or want to learn the basics of grain handling and drying, we have two courses to meet your needs.
GEAPS 524: Grain Drying covers the basics of grain drying and its effects on end-use quality.
It also touches on capacity, energy efficiency and which dryers to use for specific grain types.
The course, developed by a team of university specialists, is one of the highest rated courses in the program.
GEAPS 550: Materials Handling I covers main principles of dry bulk material flow. It provides information essential to a basic understanding of grain operations tasks and duties.
The class focuses on properties and flow characteristics of grain and other bulk materials.
The lectures also cover bin capacities and pressures, selection and sizing of bins, and spouting and screw conveyors.
This course is one of six courses required to obtain a credential in Grain Operations Management.
Offered online by GEAPS and Kansas State University, both courses begin Sept. 4 and run through Oct. 1.
Participants can do the work day or night at their convenience during the five-week period.
Course registration will close at midnight on Monday, Aug. 27.
The next series of courses will begin Nov. 5 with two offerings on employment issues and grain inspections.
