Date Posted: May 15, 2013
Master the basics of dry bulk materials handling and equipment on your own time with GEAPS 551: Materials Handling II, a course from the GEAPS/Kansas State University Distance Education Program that begins May 28.
GEAPS 551: Materials Handling II will examine various bucket elevator components—including types of cups, belts, pulleys and splices—and screw and drag conveyor design, selection, sizing and powering.
Participants will learn to determine capacity, minimum casing dimensions, power requirements and safety devices required for bucket elevators.
This course was created for managers, operators and grain facility maintenance personnel, but will be useful to anyone with a need to learn more about grain and ingredient handling characteristics and equipment.
It is the second in a three-part series, and takes you one step closer to a Specialist Credential in Grain Handling Equipment Management.
The course runs May 28-July 1. Registration closes May 21. Enrollment is limited to 60 students.
The recently updated GEAPS 522: FGIS Grain Inspection Orientation is also offered in May.
