Final Day to Register For GEAPS/K-State September Distance Ed Courses!

Registration for GEAPS 524: Grain Drying and GEAPS 550: Materials Handling I will close at midnight tonight (Monday, Aug. 27).

The courses, developed by GEAPS and Kansas State University, provide knowledge about grain drying and materials handling that can be immediately applied in your work.

GEAPS 524: Grain Drying covers the basics of grain drying and its effects on end-use quality.

It also touches on capacity, energy efficiency and which dryers to use for specific grain types.

The course, developed by a team of university specialists, will be useful to anyone seeking additional knowledge on drying grain efficiently and effectively.

GEAPS 550: Materials Handling I focuses on the main principles of dry bulk material flow.

It provides information essential to a basic understanding of grain operations tasks and duties.

The class focuses on properties and flow characteristics of grain and other bulk materials.

The lectures also cover bin capacities and pressures, selection and sizing of bins, and spouting and screw conveyors.

This is one of the six courses required to obtain a credential in Grain Operations Management.

Offered online by GEAPS and Kansas State University, both courses begin Sept. 4 and run through Oct. 1.

Participants can do the work day or night at their convenience during the five-week period.
