GEAPS Presents Corbett Award to Larry Roth

Date Posted: March 10, 2010

Wichita, KS—2010-2011 Associates President Steve Schmitt, TE Ibberson Co, Minneapolis Chapter, delivered the following presentation at the 2010 Presidents’ Banquet, Feb. 23 at GEAPS Exchange 2010.

The GEAPS Associates board bestows the Corbett Award in recognition of Associate members who have demonstrated extraordinary volunteer leadership on behalf of the Associates.

Our Corbett Award winner has led a very long and successful career, during which he’s demonstrated great integrity and dedication.

I won’t say exactly how long our winner has been part of GEAPS—I don’t want to give it away just yet—but it can be described as “ over three decades.”

And during all that time, he has continually made contributions at the chapter and international level, spreading the GEAPS message to other industry members. In GEAPS, as well as on the job, he has made himself known for his willingness to help others.

Tonight’s Corbett Award winner is a living example of GEAPS’ member-driven philosophy, and sets the bar high for volunteer leadership.

He has been president of his chapter, and instrumental in bringing the Exchange to his area.

He helped determine GEAPS programs and services during six years as an Associates board director, and as one of the original members of the Distance Education Program Oversight Committee, which works in conjunction with Kansas State University to plan and executive our successful distance learning program.

Our Corbett Award winner is also a great mentor and friend.

He looks at the big picture—not just the success of his company or his chapter, but the industry as a whole.

He has always taken the time to discuss industry issues and the GEAPS organization even with direct competitors, always happy to lend his opinion and offer advice and guidance when approached.

Some of us know him for his achievements within GEAPS and our industry, and some of us just know him as our friend the Colts fan, who loves fishing and his boat.

When we speak of someone who carries the GEAPS message, we mean someone who promotes the value of GEAPS to all—both members and non-members.

On behalf of the Associates Board, I am honored to present our colleague Larry Roth of the Hoosier Chapter with the 2010 Corbett Award.
