U.S. Grain Exports Reach February Record of 454 Million Bushels
This article is reprinted from the USDA's March 27 Grain Transportation Report.
According to GIPSA, total U.S. grain inspected for export from all major U.S. port regions reached a record 454 million bushels (mbu) during February, 21 percent above the previous year and 35 percent above the 5-year average.
The increase was driven by record inspections in the PNW (114 mbu) and Texas Gulf (60 mbu), which were 24 and 131 percent higher than February 2007.
As they did in December, PNW inspections, which are destined mainly for Asia, included record amounts of soybean (42 mbu) inspections.
