Grain Operations and Entrapment Prevention Symposium ... March 18 & 19 ... Bloomington, IL

The fourth annual symposium addressing grain entrapment prevention is scheduled for March 18 and 19 in Bloomington, IL.
The conference is being coordinated by the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois, the Grain Handling Safety Coalition, the Cornbelt Chapter of the Grain Elevator and Processing Society, and the Entrapment Prevention Group.
General session topics include:
• Food Safety Modernization Act.
• Grain bin redesign.
• 2014 crop forecast.
• Confined spaces.
• Bin structural integrity.
• Dryer fires.
• Bin entry procedures.
• Eight breakout sessions.
The symposium begins at 8 a.m. on Tuesday and adjourns at noon on Wednesday. The registration fee of $150 includes lunch on Tuesday, a continental breakfast on Wednesday, and refreshment breaks.
The conference will include a trade show, and there are opportunities for more vendor exhibits and sponsorships. The symposium will be held at the Asmark training center, where attendees will be able to participate in controlled, simulated bin engulfments; and experience different belay devices and what it feels like to be suspended in a harness or visit informally with OSHA.
