On November 21, I interviewed Philip Luce, Grain Merchandising Specialist and Director of Education for White Commercial Corporation.
He spoke on the following topics:
• Current market conditions: elevators are happy to be net depositors rather than borrowers
• Factors contributing to current market conditions: money draining from futures markets; bumper crop
• Strategies for the country elevator manager: watch for selling opportunities, as good basis won't last forever; give the producer a sense of security that, even if they didn't hit the home run this time, they can make a consistent profit year over year
