Henry Kaufmann Foreign Language Scholarship

Date Posted: Mar. 19, 2008

The Grain Elevator and Processing Society (GEAPS) is accepting scholarship applications from agribusiness professionals who are interested in studying a foreign language.

Funds will be available to qualified individuals through the Henry H. Kaufmann Memorial Scholarship.

Kaufmann was GEAPS International president in 1975-76 and treasurer from 1977 until his death in 1980.

He was named a GEAPS Member of Distinction, the highest honor for regular members, in 1973.

Career Enhancement

The purpose of the Kaufmann Scholarship is career enhancement, and funds will be awarded only to full-time agribusiness professionals who want to study a language other than their native one.

The scholarships will apply to tuition, books, and fees only at institutions accredited by the U.S. Department of Education.

Selection criteria may include the candidates commitment to career goals, the case made by the candidate for the proposed course of study, and an endorsing letter by the candidates supervisor.

Non-GEAPS members are welcome to apply.

The applications will be reviewed by GEAPS and Kaufmanns widow, Marianne Kaufmann.

Together, they will determine scholarship amounts based on monies available and individual qualifications.

Applications must be submitted by May 1.

They are available at GEAPS web site and by request from Marianne Kaufmann.

For more information, call GEAPS at 612-339-4625.
