Interstates Companies Names Scott Peterson CEO

Sioux Center, IA—Interstates Companies is pleased to announce that Scott Peterson, Interstates Companies’ Chief Financial Officer/Harbor Group President has been named the company’s next Chief Executive Officer.
He will assume his new role with the start of the company’s fiscal year on September 1, 2014.
Peterson succeeds Larry Den Herder who has held the company’s top leadership post since 2001.
Den Herder will remain Chairman of the Board until his retirement at the end of 2016.
Prior to coming to Interstates, Scott worked for KPMG Peat Marwick and Valero Energy.
Scott is a CPA and has earned his MBA from the University of South Dakota.
Scott and Jana live in Sioux Center and have three children: Jordan, Cole and Trey.
In Peterson's current role as Interstates Companies’ Chief Financial Officer/Harbor Group President, he is responsible for integrated services, accounting, business development, human resources, information technology, strategic planning support and the administrative functions of the companies.
Den Herder comments, "Throughout his 18 years with Interstates Companies, Scott has proven to be a strong leader with a deep understanding of the business, passion for developing other leaders, and keen strategic thinking skills.

The Interstates Companies’ executive leadership team has been carefully planning for the CEO transition for several months.
During the transition period through August 2014, the executive leadership team will continue to execute the plan to ensure successful transition.
