K-State International Grain Program Announces 2014 Course Schedule

Date Posted: December 10, 2013

Manhattan, KS—In looking ahead to the new year, Kansas State University’s International Grains Program faculty and staff are excited to announce the educational opportunities planned for 2014.

Building on the tradition of providing offerings featuring state-of-the-art trainings in the areas of feed manufacturing and grain management, grain marketing and risk management, and flour milling and grain processing, IGP faculty will be expanding its distance options.

“We are excited about the course offerings for 2014,” says Mark Fowler, IGP associate director.

“We strive to be the pulse of industry training by adapting our programs to meet its changing needs.”

The 2014 schedule features the IGP standard courses, and builds on the momentum that was set in 2013, according to Fowler.

“Going into 2014, we hope to continue to build on the growth and success that we’ve had in the past few years,” Fowler says.

“We want to make a positive impact by expanding the scope of our course offerings.”

A growth area has been in the distance learning curriculum.

IGP offered its first introduction to flour milling distance course in 2011 and has offered it ever since.

For the 2014 distance learning, IGP will be offering many courses for the first time.

“We are particularly excited about the expansion of the distance learning curriculum,” Fowler says.

“We are anxious to build our IGP distance courses as well as build partnerships with other organizations.”

These adaptations are in response to the ever-changing needs of the industry, Fowler says.

He adds, “IGP, as a part of the Department of Grain Science and Industry, offers a long history of serving the industry and holds a future mission to continue to provide a world-class experience for all of our course participants through our state-of the-art facilities and exceptional faculty who are on the leading edge of grain processing and storage.”
