Landmark Services Coop to Expand Grain Shuttle Facility in Evansville, WI

Date Posted: April 15, 2013

Cottage Grove, WI—Landmark Services Cooperative is excited to announce that their current grain shuttle, located at 6524 N. County M, Evansville, WI will be undergoing an expansion project, expected to be complete by September 10, 2013.

The expansion will include the largest grain storage bin within the Landmark footprint, as well as a new state-of-the-art grain dryer.

With the new bin and dryer, the Evansville terminal will add 730,000 bushels of grain storage, and dry 7,000 bushels of grain per hour.

The new grain receiving pit will be able to handle 20,000 bushels of grain per hour by truck, increasing total receiving capacity to 65,000 bushels per hour at the rail.

A new building with overhead doors over the receiving pit will also be added in the expansion.

Landmark’s new state-of-the-art facility will be complete with a stand-alone dust collection system for dust-control, new electrical control room building, new 3,000 amp three-phase electrical service, paving around the receiving area and truck routes, new programming software and all equipment lined with either poly or ceramic, where applicable.

Landmark CEO, Bob Carlson, stated, "One of the biggest challenges the agriculture industry faces today is the fact that the world’s appetite and need for food will double in the next 20 years—specifically 9.8 billion people by 2050.

"As a cooperative it is our job to provide growers with the necessary resources to help feed the world, including: fertilizer, fuel, transport, store, finance, insure and market that grain.

"Landmark has both the opportunity and the obligation to be a part of a local solution. Wisconsin growers, along with Landmark can support the increasing population and feeding the world, and this rail shuttle expansion is an example of just that."

The efficiency of the expanded grain facility will equate to a scale-to-scale grain delivery either by truck or by rail of seven minutes or less.

This will reduce lines and wait time at harvest, effectively serving our members and customers rapidly.

Doug Cropp, Landmark's Senior Vice President- Grain, stated, "In alignment with our mission statement, this grain expansion program will allow us to exceed customer expectations and help keep our growers profitable.

"Time is money during harvest, and this expansion allows us to get our growers in and out in a matter of minutes."
