MGEX February Hard Red Spring Wheat and Apple Juice Concentrate Contracts See Continued Growth

Minneapolis—MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), reports February 2013 volume and open interest.
Total volume came in at 130,802 contracts traded, a 35 percent increase from January 2013 and a 11.9 percent increase from February 2012.
February 2013 was the best volume month at MGEX since August 2012.
February saw double-digit increases in the Apple Juice Concentrate (AJC) contract both in volume and open interest.
Total AJC volume was reported at 215 contracts traded, with futures contracts accounting for 60 contracts traded and options contracts accounting for 155 contracts traded.
Total AJC open interest was reported at 196, with 41 of those being futures contracts and 155 of those being options contracts.
The February 21 trade date saw record AJC trades, with total volume at 112 contracts traded.
The Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) contract also continued to see volume growth.
Total HRSW volume was reported at 130,587 contracts traded, with futures contracts accounting for 129,477 contracts traded and options contracts accounting for 1,110 contracts traded.
Total HRSW open interest saw a 10 percent increase from February 2012, with 41,896 contracts. Futures contracts accounted for 39,064 while options contracts accounted for 2,832 of open interest.
