MGEX May Volume Breaks Record

Minneapolis, MN—MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), announces the top May volume in Exchange history.

This is the third consecutive month of record-breaking volume.

All futures and options contracts traded totaled 162,863, a four percent increase over the previous record set back in 2011 and an 82 percent increase from May 2013.

Electronic trades totaled 138,523, number 14 on the monthly electronic trading records. This is an 83 percent over May 2013 electronic trade volume.

Fiscal year-to-date volume is at 1,464,463, a 53 percent increase over last year at this time. Three months remain in this fiscal year.

Open interest remained high, with month-end open interest at 79,405, an 87 percent increase over May 2013.

Ten total days in May made the top 25 daily open interest records.
