MGEX Reports Double Digit Year Over Year Volume Growth

Minneapolis, MN—MGEX, a Designated Contract Market (DCM) and Derivatives Clearing Organization (DCO), announces July 1 its ninth month in a row of year over year volume growth.

Total volume was up 12.3 percent from June 2012 and 40.6 percent from May 2013.

Total Exchange volume for June 2013 was reported at 125,703 contracts traded.

Total Hard Red Spring Wheat (HRSW) accounted for 125,053 contracts traded. Of that 123,880 were futures contracts and 1,173 were options contracts.

Open interest came in at 36,907 contracts.

The Apple Juice Concentrate (AJC) contract continued to see growth in June. A total of 650 contracts were traded, a 79.6 percent increase from May 2013.

Of the total AJC contracts traded, 85 of them were futures contracts and 565 were options contracts.

The June 20 trade date brought a record volume day with 222 futures and options contracts traded.

Total open interest was reported at 386 contracts. Electronic futures and options volume of 101,645 makes June a top 25 electronic volume month.
