MN OSHA Compliance Safety and Health Officers to Target Grain Elevators and Feed MillsDate Posted: June 30, 2010 Reprinted from the June 2010 MGFA Newsletter The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry, Occupational Safety and Health Division (MN OSHA) has identified the grain elevator and feed mill industry in its recently developed strategic plan, as one of the industries to be targeted by MN OSHA compliance safety and health officers. The plan runs through 2013 so we can expect to see an increase in random inspections of elevators and mills over the next few years. If you receive a visit from MNOSHA, they will be expecting you to be in compliance with the specific Federal Grain Handling Standard CFR 1910.272, as well as the other regulations they enforce, such as employee right-to-know. We have provided a link on our website to the Federal Grain Handling Standard, for those of you that may need a refresher. This may be the time for you to consider participating in the MGFA Safety & Health Program administered by the Minnesota Grain and Feed Association. The program will basically help you to be in full compliance with the OSHA regulations and help you stay in compliance. For information on this competitively priced compliance option, go to the MGFA website at www.mgfa.org. For more information, call 651-454-8212. Grain News
