Michigan Agri-Business Assn. Recognizes Industry Leaders at Annual Winter Conference

Lansing—The Michigan Agri-Business Association (MABA) recognized the achievements and leadership of its members during its annual Winter Conference and Trade Show.
MABA presented the Leaders and Legends award to Ted Leipprandt, former CEO of the Cooperative Elevator Company headquartered in Pigeon where he spent many years at the forefront of Michigan’s agricultural industry.
The Leaders and Legends award acknowledges an individual who has made a profound difference in Michigan agriculture and is awarded twice a year to the state’s most accomplished agribusiness entrepreneurs and leaders.
“Ted’s innovation and dedication to advancing Michigan’s agricultural industry is noteworthy,” said Jim Byrum, president of MABA.
“We’re proud to recognize his incredible service to our industry and to honor all he has accomplished.”
MABA presented its 2013 Outstanding Manufacturer/Supplier award to The Andersons, Inc.
This award is presented to a business that has shown a strong commitment to its customers and the agricultural industry.
The Andersons is an agribusiness and retail firm that specializes in the operation of grain elevators, distribution of fertilizer and the management of rail cars.
The company is headquartered in Ohio and has facilities across Michigan.
“The Anderson’s lend their people, expertise and resources to help the association prosper and the industry grow, and they don’t shy away from tough issues,” said Jennifer Vincent-Kiel, editor of Michigan Farmer Magazine, which sponsored the award.
MABA presented its 2013 Outstanding MABA Member award to Brian Brink of Brink Farms Inc. headquartered in Hamilton.
The Outstanding MABA Member award is presented to a member who has demonstrated leadership and dedication to the Association.
Brink is a member of the MABA Board of Directors and his business specializes in the transportation of agricultural products.
MABA’s Winter Conference and Trade show takes place annually at the Lansing Center in Lansing.
