Date Posted: June 26, 2006

Washington, DC--The Renewable Fuels Association (RFA) today congratulates Millennium Ethanol, LLC on breaking ground on its 100 million gallon per year ethanol biorefinery.

Located near Marion, South Dakota, the facility will process more than 5 million bushels of corn in the production of ethanol and 320,000 tons of dried distillers grains.

Millennium Ethanol is owned by 914 South Dakota investors, including farmers and business people from across the state.

"Long ago, South Dakota realized the benefits of a strong ethanol industry and the people of this state continue their commitment to renewable fuels today," said RFA President Bob Dinneen.

"That is why more than 900 South Dakotans invested their own hard earned money in Millennium Ethanol.

They understand the economic, environmental and energy security impacts a robust domestic ethanol industry can have.

Congratulations to Millennium Ethanol and the people of South Dakota."

Currently, 101 ethanol biorefineries nationwide have the capacity to produce more than 4.8 billion gallons annually.

There are 34 ethanol refineries and seven expansions under construction with a combined annual capacity of more than 2.2 billion gallons.
