NAMA's Soft Wheat Forecast Up From 2007; SRW Up 52%; SWW Up 20%

Palm Coast, FL—The North American Miller's Associations' (NAMA) soft wheat panel received resounding applause after announcing this year's soft wheat forecast—presented March 18 at NAMA's Division Meetings in Palm Coast.

In general, soft red wheat production is expected to be at 545,713,000 bushels, which is up 52% from last year.

Soft white wheat production is projected at 209,512,000 bushels, up 20% from last year.

To say the least, the news was well received.

This announcement came after numerous presentations that highlighted high wheat prices and low ending stocks.

Across the board, panel members described excellent planting conditions, good growing conditions and very little abandonment.

The soft wheat panel consists of Connie Barr, Siemer Milling Co.; Grover Van Hoose, The Mennel Millng Co.; Shawn Blume, Lansing Grain Co.; Pat Rogers, Horizon Milling, LLC; John Bartels, ConAgra Mills.
