Hilton Head, SC—The National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA) today honored Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Ohio, with its 2014 Congressional Leadership Award.
The award was given to the congressman for his efforts in fostering an efficient free-market environment and economic growth.
It was presented in front of nearly 650 attendees at the association's 118th annual convention in Hilton Head for which he was the keynote speaker.
"The NGFA prides itself on promoting free-market principles that we believe are key to making our industry and nation better," said NGFA President Randy Gordon.
"And throughout Gibbs' tenure in Congress, he has continually shown his commitment to these same free-market principles."
Gibbs serves on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and the House Agriculture Committee.
He also serves as chairman the Subcommittee on Water Resources and Environment, a subcommittee of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee where he has been a stalwart advocate for enactment of waterway infrastructure legislation, which is critical to the future competitiveness of U.S. agriculture and other industries in meeting world demand and creating U.S. job.
NGFA also credited Gibbs with being a leading advocate in the House for a market-oriented farm bill.
"NGFA greatly appreciates all of the hard work and dedication that Congressman Gibbs put into the farm bill and the Water Resources Reform and Development Act," said Gordon.
