North Dakota Grain Dealers Elect Officers and Directors at Annual Convention in Fargo, ND
Clyde Krebs, of Glen Ullin, ND was re-elected President of the North Dakota Grain Dealers Association at its convention held January 20-22 at the Holiday Inn in Fargo, ND.
Elected First Vice President was Dan DeRouchey of Berthold, ND.
Elected Second Vice President was Paul Lautenschlager of Beach.
Directors Myron Uttermark of Harlow and Dave Rosscup of Cavalier retired from the Board.
Two new Directors were elected to the organization’s 9-man Board.
They are David Fiebiger of Drayton, soon moving to Finley, and Cameron Erickson of Russell.
Senator Byron Dorgan spoke of his legislation making shipper-friendly changes in federal law.
Surface Transportation Board Vice Chairman Francis Mulvey told of recent and planned activities of this board that has oversight responsibilities on the nation’s railroads.
Ron Olson of General Mills spoke to the convention about managing risk when purchasing grain in volatile markets.
He also addressed the prospect for biotech crops.
Iowa State University Economist Dr. David Swenson gave an update on the ethanol industry.
He warned of overly optimistic projections.
Streeter, ND farmer Alan Ruff told of his experience being trapped in a grain bin and rescued.
Travis Clark with the Occupational Safety & Health Administration made a presentation on safety practices.
Health insurance was a topic of another convention session.
Trent Loos, host of the popular agricultural radio program LoosTales was a featured speaker.
Over 900 people attended the convention, which included a trade show of over 80 firms. The January 2009 convention will again be held in Fargo, ND.
