OPW Fuel Management Systems Offering SiteSentinel iSite Automatic Tank Gauging System to Above-Ground Storage Tank MarketDate Posted: March 24, 2008
Hodgkins, ILAccurate, error-free management of fuel inventory in above-ground storage tanks (ASTs) at tank farms and bulk-storage facilities has never been easier than it is now with OPW Fuel Management Systems’ new SiteSentinel iSite automatic tank-gauging system. The iSite system provides site operators with a new solution that is easy to use and install, while it presents complete inventory, delivery, automatic reconciliation, exception alarms and environmental-compliance information for as many as 256 ASTs. The heart of the iSite system is its "best-in-class" iSite Console. Featuring a 15-inch color LCD touch-screen display, all of the critical information found on the iSite Console is presented in a cockpit-style view, allowing the user ready access to inventory, deliveries, compliance and general site status—all in real-time and without the need for time-consuming menu navigation. Additionally, the console can be installed anywhere the user wants or needs it—back office, front of building, wall-mounted, on a desktop, at home, or miles away from the installation. In addition to its ease of installation, the iSite Console offers many methods of connecting remotely, including Ethernet, RS-485, RS-232, USB and multiple internal modems. The iSite also features wireless interfaces and the latest server-platform technology, enabling browser-based configuration and management tools. The iSite Console can also be accessed remotely at anytime from anywhere in the world via an Internet connection. The information that appears on the iSite Console is transmitted from the probes installed in the ASTs via the VSmart Module. Whenever a device (probes or sensors) is connected from the AST to the VSmart Module, the device information is sent directly from the VSmart to the iSite Console, providing for easy setup and configuration of the devices installed at the site. The VSmart can be connected to the iSite Console through either a two-wire RS-485 or CAT5 connection, or wirelessly. This option eliminates the expensive need to trench and run conduit under existing concrete or paved fueling facilities. The actual monitoring of fuel levels is done through the use of OPW Fuel Management Systems’ probes. The AST Flex Probe utilizes the same reliable magnetostrictive technology used for monitoring underground storage tanks and is made of flexible, petrochemical-friendly Kynar (PVDF), which can be installed in vertical ASTs up to 50 feet high. Its design ensures cost-effective shipping, as well as easy installation and mounting on the big tanks. An optional water float is available for enhanced water detection. OPW’s 924B Magnetostrictive Probe provides inventory management and in-tank water detection for horizontal aboveground storage tanks. Up to four 924B probes can be "daisy-chained" on one VSmart Module barrier position, expanding capacity while not increasing the cost of the system to the owner. The head of the 924B probe is welded to the shaft to ensure long-life integrity and to prevent fluid from entering the probe head in the event of a tank overfill. To make sure that liquid inventory is accurately tracked down to the final gallon, the iSite also offers an optional automatic precision inventory-reconciliation feature. This highly advanced automatic inventory-management technology collects sales data, in-tank inventory and deliveries, and reconciles the totals at the end of a user-chosen time frame (shift, day, month, etc.) An adjusted delivery report is then created to make sure that the actual deliveries match the tickets generated. When a bulk delivery is received while dispensing is in progress, the iSite keeps track of the amount of fuel dispensed during the delivery and the system provides a report showing the volume increase to include the amount of fuel dispensed during the delivery, as well as the amount of fuel delivered.
