The Central Nebraska Public Power and Irrigation District has set limitations on water that can be withdrawn in 2014 from the Ogallala Aquifer. The limit is for 9 inches of water that can be applied to cropland.

While unrelated, it comes on the heels of Ogallala research by Kansas State University Geoscientist David Steward. Dr. Steward (785-532-1585) has projected water levels and their changes over time, as well as the rate of recharge of the Ogallala Aquifer.

He outlines his research and its implications in this interview (12-minutes).
