Date Posted: June 11, 2014

Northgate, SS—This week marks the first time in more than 20 years that a train has crossed the border at the Northgate North Dakota, Northgate Saskatchewan crossing.

BNSF has begun pushing material across the border for Phase II construction on the new Ceres Global transloading facility.

Managed by Engineered Rail Solutions LLC and constructed in a joint effort by Swift Rail Services and R&R Contracting, this will be one of the first and biggest multi-commodity facilities in Canada.

Building nearly 34,000 track feet with 13 turnouts, Ceres plans to transload crude oil, grain, pipe, coal, drilling supplies, and frac sand, with future plans to add fertilizer.

Upon completion of the facility, Ceres will have a state of the art global shipping hub with access to Canadian and US markets.
