Monday, Dec. 10:

• “Policy Options to Enhance Futures Customer Protections”

Moderator: Diana Klemme, Vice President, Grain Service Corp., Atlanta, Ga.

Panelists: Walter Lukken, President and Chief Executive Officer, Futures Industry Association, Washington, D.C. and John Roe, Co-Founder, Commodity Customer Coalition, Chicago, Ill.

John Roe: In the aftermath of the MF Global and Peregrine Financial failures, the Commodity Customer Coalition has worked on behalf of its more than 7,000 customer-members for return of 100% of customer funds to customers.

Roe also serves as principal of BTR Trading and will join Lukken to discuss policy and regulatory improvements to customer protections, including reforms to U.S. bankruptcy laws, full segregation of customer funds, establishment of a customer protection fund and more.

Walt Lukken: A former CFTC commissioner and chief executive of NYSE Euronext, Lukken was hired early this year to lead the Futures Industry Association, which represents firms in the futures, options and cleared-derivatives markets.

Lukken also brings public policy experience to the table, having worked several years on the staff of the Senate Agriculture Committee and specializing in futures and financial markets.

Tuesday, Dec. 11: • “The Elections are Over, Now What?”

Many NGFA members will recognize Wiesemeyer from his informative and energetic presentations at previous NGFA conferences, as well as from his contributions to the popular Pro Farmer Newsletter.

A keen observer of the Washington political scene for many years, Wiesemeyer is uniquely positioned to analyze election results with an eye toward implications for agricul-tural policy and the larger political scene.
