Date Posted: August 13, 2013
Increase your technical understanding of the equipment used to move and store grain in your facility: register now for GEAPS 552: Materials Handling III, a GEAPS/Kansas State University distance education course that begins Sept. 3.
GEAPS 552: Materials Handling III gives an in-depth look at motors, gear reducers, V-Belt and chain drives, spill prevention control and countermeasure, liquid systems and dust control systems.
It is one of three complementary courses that give a comprehensive overview of materials handling. GEAPS 550 and GEAPS 551 complete the series.
Managers, operators or anyone working with equipment in grain and processing facilities will find GEAPS 552 useful.
"Information I have learned from the materials handling courses has been beneficial when sizing and selecting equipment for new installs, troubleshooting equipment issues and understanding grain flow characteristics," said Brad Perry, an operations manager at The Scoular Company who has finished the materials handling series.
GEAPS 552 is taught by Professor Fred Fairchild, Kansas State University Department of Grain Science and Industry.
Fairchild is a materials handling specialist who has 30 years of industry experience.
Two other courses are also offered in September: register now for GEAPS 500: Introduction to Grain Operations Management or GEAPS 524: Grain Drying.
All courses run Sept. 3-Oct. 7. Registration closes Aug. 27.
