Two Illinois Soybean Producers Appointed to USB and ASA Executive Committees

Date Posted: December 11, 2008

Bloomington, IL—Two dedicated Illinois soybean farmer-leaders were rewarded for their efforts this week by being elected to national positions on the United Soybean Board and the American Soybean Association executive committees.

Philip Bradshaw of Griggsville was elected as vice-chairman of the United Soybean Board and Ron Kindred of Atlanta was elected as secretary of the American Soybean Association.

“Each of these national organizations serves a distinct and important purpose for soybean farmers,” commented David Hartke, Teutopolis soybean grower and chairman of the Illinois Soybean Association.

“As one of the top soybean producing states, we are happy to bring representation from Illinois to farmers from all over the country.

Bradshaw will begin his second year on the executive committee of the United Soybean Board, the national organization representing the soybean checkoff.

He previously has served as chairman of the Communications Committee and as chairman of the Animal Ag Initiative.

Bradshaw also has chaired the World Initiative for Soy in Human Health, as well as the World Soy Foundation.

“Philip Bradshaw represents soybean growers to the fullest extent,” added Hartke.

“He is dedicated to putting in the time and effort needed to make soybean growers more profitable.”

Ron Kindred is beginning his second term on the executive committee of the American Soybean Association (ASA), the membership organization representing the policy needs of soybean growers in Washington, D.C.

Kindred has served on the Market Performance Working Group and the BNSF Ag Producer Council, as well as co-chairing the 2009 Commodity Classic, which will be held February 26-28 in Grapevine, Texas.

“Ron Kindred has a strong interest in international marketing and biodiesel, key issues that have a huge impact on soybean grower profitability,” said Hartke.

“He will represent the legislative interests of our members, as well as the many national members ASA represents.”

Both Bradshaw and Kindred will serve one-year terms on their respective executive committees.
