USA Rice Federation Board Elects James Warshaw as ChairmanDate Posted: July 21, 2008 Dallas, TX—The USA Rice Federation board of directors on July 14 elected James W. (Jamie) Warshaw, chief executive officer of Farmers Rice Milling Company, to be its next chairman. Warshaw, whose two-year term begins Aug. 1, follows California rice producer Al Montna, in this position. “Jamie is a decisive and knowledgeable leader with a thorough understanding of the challenges and opportunities that face the industry and I have no doubt that he will do a fine job as chairman” said Montna. Warshaw, a Lake Charles, Louisiana native and Louisiana Tech University graduate, has held numerous executive positions, including as VP Operations for Martran, Inc., a marine towing company that handles oil products transportation. He joined the Powell Group, a conglomeration of several companies, including Agrilectric Power Partners; Agrilectric Research Co.; Hardy Rice Drier; Powell Farm Partners; Excalibur Land Company and Farmers Rice Milling Company, in 1982. At Agrilectric Power, Inc., Warshaw worked in the area of rice hull fuel power plant sales and was actively involved in the implementation, development and management of Agrilectric’s by-products programs for five years, from 1983 to 1988. Warshaw began working for Farmers Rice Milling Company, Inc., in 1988, with primary responsibilities for plant operations, capital projects and long-range capital planning. He was named chief executive officer of the company in 1996. Warshaw plays an active role within the rice industry and is a member of the board of directors for the USA Rice Council, the USA Rice Millers’ Association and the USA Rice Federation.
