Date Posted: October 28, 2013
Arlington, VA—USA Rice Federation has announced that Michael Klein has joined the organization as Vice President of Marketing & Communications.
Klein has more than 20 years of media and public relations experience, having worked in network television, at public relations agencies in New York and Boston, and as a journalist.
In addition, Klein has extensive political experience, working on numerous campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives, and as press secretary for Congressman Ed Whitfield (R-KY).
Klein also worked for rice state Senator Thad Cochran (R-MS) and Senator Connie Mack (R-FL) at the Senate Republican Conference.
He spent almost seven years at the American Forest & Paper Association in the media relations department and also ran his own communications consulting business prior to joining USA Rice.
“We’re thrilled to have someone with Michael’s broad range of experience joining us,” said USA Rice President & CEO Betsy Ward.
“Michael’s been on both sides of the equation – as the person being reported on by the media, but also as the person doing the reporting. I think it gives him a unique perspective that will help our industry.”
“Michael is no stranger to the ag sector or marketing and promotion, so I think he’s going to be invaluable as we work to tell our industry’s story to the many audiences – the public, legislators and regulators, and the media,” said Mark Denman, a rice miller from Texas and Chairman of the USA Rice Federation.
“We’re happy he’s come aboard.”
