United Cooperative Hosts Well-Attended Answer Plot in South Beaver Dam, WIDate Posted: September 8, 2010 Beaver Dam—United Cooperative, based out of Beaver Dam with locations throughout south-central Wisconsin, held their second Answer Plot of the summer on Wednesday, Sept. 2. About 85 crop growers, representing approximately 55,000 acres, braved the elements to review hybrid and variety placement, corn management comparisons related to population and fertility management, and micronutrient management.
“Seed and crop input technology is constantly changing, and every summer, United Cooperative hosts two Answer Plot days at our 20-acre, show and tell Answer Plot in South Beaver Dam to bring crop growers up to speed on the latest advancements in agronomics,” commented Jim Kemink, United Cooperative vice president of seed and agronomy sales.
“Our agronomy team works with 1,000s of Wisconsin crop growers every year to help them maximize profits on every acre, using the knowledge from our Answer Plot seminars,” added Kemink.
One of the highlighted presentations at the Answer Plot day on Sept. 2 was a simple, freshly-painted, white board with ears of corn representing 1/1,000 of an acre using an average management program and a more intensive management program. The intensive management program yielded 35 bushel per acre better. Growers listened as Duane Swenson and Neal Weber, United Cooperative agronomists, reviewed the two different fertility and chemical programs demonstrating the advantages of taking the proper steps to economically increase yield.
United Cooperative also hosted an Answer Plot on July 20 at the South Beaver Dam location. Close to 100 growers attended that event to gain knowledge in the areas of genetic families, emergence, seed treatments, pest control, nutrient management, weed control, disease management, roots, and nitrogen studies.
