Wenger's Feed Mill Introduces SoyChoice™ Soybean Meal Animal FeedDate Posted: September 5, 2008 Rheems, PA—Wenger’s Feed Mill, Inc. is pleased to introduce SoyChoice™, a premium expelled soybean meal for use in animal feeds. SoyChoice™ is produced in the company’s Rheems soybean processing plant, which was completed in 2006. Expelled soybean meal is highly digestible and provides greater energy levels than traditional soybean meal.
The new product had been used internally at Wenger Feeds in its poultry feeds. The introduction of SoyChoice™ will allow dairy farmers to purchase this expelled meal. “We are excited by the opportunity to offer SoyChoice™ to the dairy industry, a segment we have not served in more than 30 years,” noted Dave Dell, vice president of sales and marketing. Wenger’s developed the marketing plan for the product with input from Agri-Basics, Inc., a leading team of independent dairy nutritionists.
Wenger Feeds conducted extensive research at Penn State University, The University of Minnesota, and at Ohio State University prior to offering the product for sale. “We wanted to verify the high protein bypass value of the product, which is a key benefit for dairy farmers,” noted Dell, “Protein from SoyChoice™ is highly digestible at the small intestine making amino acids available to the cow to support milk production.”
SoyChoice™ may be ordered through Wenger’s at 1-800-692-6008 and either delivered or picked up at Wenger’s facility at 271 Heisey Quarry Road in Rheems, PA.
