Zeeland Farm Services Receives Clean Water Action Environmental Stewardship Award

East LansingZeeland Farm Services received the 2014 Heritage Award from Clean Water Action at the 2014 Great Lakes Awards Celebration April 22.
The award honors a member of the agribusiness community who exemplifies environmental stewardship in its company core values and practices.
“Zeeland Farm Services is leading the way when it comes to incorporating sustainable practices in agriculture,” said Nic Clark, Michigan director of Clean Water Action.
“Agriculture is one of Michigan’s largest and most important industries and the agriculture community is an important partner in the fight to protect the Great Lakes.
"We are proud to recognize Zeeland Farm Services for its work to reduce energy waste, transition to more clean, renewable energy and protect our Great Lakes.”
Zeeland Farm Services was recognized for its innovative environmental leadership within the agricultural community running its soybean processing facility on renewable energy from a local landfill, co-generating renewable power and steam, and building a LEED silver certified administration building that incorporates many energy efficient technologies.
“Zeeland Farm Services is proud of our track record of environmental stewardship in agriculture,” said Robb Meeuwsen, director of edible oils at Zeeland Farm Services.
“Our company strives to reduce our environmental impact wherever possible, from producing clean-burning biofuels to implementing cutting-edge energy efficiency measures.
