The transition, in agriculture, from wood to plastic bins began in 1991 when Macro Plastics introduced the one-piece plastic bins to major fruit packers in California. Today, over a million MacroBins are currently being used by fruit and vegetable packers in all major agricultural growing regions of North America for apples, citrus, stone fruit, vegetables and other produce.

Macrobins, which are utilized in industrial markets, are now the preferred choice for plastic bulk-containers for harvesting, shipping and storing fruits and vegetables. The MacroShuttle system of containers, introduced in 1997, is designed for agricultural, industrial and consumer markets.
