Dean Stolberg, VP, Biodiesel Financial Services, Parsippany, NJ, spoke with BioFuels Journal at the National Biodiesel Convention, Feb. 2, in San Francisco, CA.

Highlights From The Podcast

Biodiesel Financial Services is in a position to lend money to biodiesel plant projects that meet certain criteria such as:

• A sound business plan can be demonstrated.

• Strong investors support the project.

"My company is in a position to lend money," Stolberg said. "I think we are more the exception than the rule. In the next couple of quarters, things will turn around for other lenders."

Even though the cost of soybean oil is currently high and petroleum diesel is currently selling low, Stolberg believes that those commodities will switch places over time.

The key for lenders such as Biodiesel Financial Services are plants that have contingencies built into their plans to allow the plant to ride it out for six months or a year if feedstock prices soar.
