Pioneer to Construct New Farm Service Centre at Weyburn, SKDate Posted: October 3, 2001 Pioneer is pleased to announce that it will construct its newest full service farm centre 2 miles northwest of Weyburn, SK on Highway 39. Site work is now underway with a target date for the opening of the centre's crop inputs business in time for seeding next spring. With a storage capacity of 23,900 metric tonnes, Weyburn will rank among the largest of Pioneer's high throughput terminals when it goes into full operation in December 2002. According to Tom Hamilton, Pioneer's South Prairie Regional Manager, "Weyburn has consistently been one of the top grain producing areas in Western Canada from both a quality and a quantity perspective, as well as having very competitive rail freight rates to all North American destinations. The decision to expand our business here was clearly the logical choice." Efficiency of operation is central to the terminal's design. Movement of grain by truck will benefit from access to dual driveway receiving and the centre's high-speed truck unloading capability. Superior logistics are essential to excel in today's competitive marketplace, and Weyburn will more than meet the challenge with its ability to spot and load full 112 railcar unit trains. As part of Pioneer's full service farm centre design, Weyburn will be home to a 3,000 square foot crop inputs facility, along with 1,800 metric tonnes of dry fertilizer storage and an on-site blender for custom blending. A spacious 2,700 square foot office completes the centre and will provide an efficient business environment for both customers and our employees. Weyburn has long been central to Pioneer's business strategy and with this investment will remain a vital component in the company's continued success.
