Charm Sciences Introduces ROSA P/N Test to Screen Wheat & Barley for DONDate Posted: May 9, 2006
Lawrence, MA--Charm Sciences has introduced a qualitative lateral flow test to screen wheat and barley for DON in just 3 minutes. Charm's ROSA DON P/N test is the fastest and simplest test to screen for DON. DON P/N test is the latest in a series of ROSA tests (Rapid One Step Assay) for grain and feedstuffs. Following a water extraction, the diluted sample is added to the ROSA DON strip and read after 3 minutes. The test gives an accurate result visually ( Positive/ Negative) detecting DON contamination in wheat and barley samples at 1.0 ppm and above. An optional digital ROSA-M reader stores results electronically for record keeping and reporting. The reader allows levels as low as 0.1 ppm to be measured. The ROSA DON P/N lateral flow test method is time/cost efficient and requires minimal equipment and user involvement. Multiple samples can be prepared, and tested at the same time. ROSA P/N strips are uniquely packaged so that lateral flow strip only comes in contact with the sample. Other ROSA tests include the 3 minute Aflatoxin P/N and 10 minute ROSA Aflatoxin Quantitative, have already received approval from USDA GIPSA. Like the DON P/N test, the 3 minute Aflatoxin P/N procedure is identical, and all tests can be run on the same equipment. Fusarium Head Blight is a fungal disease that, under certain conditions, may produce DON ( Deoxynivalenol), also known as "vomitoxin," usually in wheat, but can also affect barley, oats, and rye. Livestock are particularly susceptible to the presence of DON in feedstuffs by exhibiting signs of feed refusal. For more information, call 978-687-9200. Supplier News & New Products
