AirSweep Material Flow System Sweeps Stagnant Product Into Flow Stream

System helps eliminate bridging and clogging

The AirSweep™ material flow system was first introduced in the 1980s and added to Control Concepts’ product line in 2009.

The AirSweep’s patented nozzle is designed to direct a high-pressure, high-volume 360-degree burst of compressed air between the material and vessel wall to sweep stagnated material back into the flow stream.

According to Paul Rose, Control Concepts’ director of sales, the nozzle’s unique design ensures an immediate, dust-tight, reseal after each pulse, preventing clogging or material feedback.

“The AirSweep uses short, high-volume bursts of compressed air that act as an air knife to break friction, eliminate bridging and clogging, and facilitate material flow.

"There’s nothing quite like it on the market, and it works with a wide range of materials, including those that are dry, sticky, granular, or even viscous,” he explains.

All-Metal Construction

“The AirSweep nozzle is made from 100% metal, including carbon, titanium, and stainless steel, so it can operate in cold, hot (up to 1,000 degrees F), and caustic/corrosive environments.

It can be installed on almost any kind of vessel including wood, steel, fiberglass, and concrete construction,” says Rose.
